Pastor Advises Teen to Reject Sister's Cash Offer for Motel Outing

3 min read

Dear Pastor,

I trust you are well and hope you can reply to my letter soon. I am sixteen years old and live at home with my parents and two siblings. My eighteen-year-old sister has a boyfriend who is cheating on her. When she asked him why he needs another girlfriend, he said it is because she is not always available. The man is only twenty.

He wants my sister to lie to our parents and to meet him every weekend. He borrowed his brother's car, drove her to a motel, and they had sex. As she was leaving, she saw one of her schoolteachers coming out of the same motel. He told her he did not know she visited places like that. She said she did not answer him. The teacher is married and, since then, has asked her to have sex with him. She told him she would complain to his wife.

Her boyfriend plans to go to America to study and wants to take my sister back to the same motel before he leaves. He said some of his friends will have a party there. She cannot go alone, so she wants me to go with her. I am still a virgin. My sister said this man told her he would get one of his friends to be my partner while he and my sister go off on their own.

I am not in favour of that, and we would have to lie to our parents. We could not tell them we are going out with these men. My sister said she would give me $5,000 if I agree to go. Do you think I should tell my parents what my sister is planning? I do not want to have anything to do with a man. I do not want to keep carrying secrets for my sister any longer. She is an adult but still lives at home, so she cannot have her own way all the time. She has changed for the worse since she met this man. He has even sent nude pictures of himself to her.

A.

Dear A.,

You do not have to say anything to your parents, but you should tell your sister that you are not interested in going out with her, her boyfriend, and the others. In fact, you should tell her plainly that you are not interested in getting involved with any man at this time.

Your sister met a man at the place her boyfriend took her to, and, since that time, her teacher has asked her for sex. Maybe the teacher now thinks your sister is selling her body, so he would like to take her to the same place again. Where would your sister get money to give you? I will answer my own question. It is likely that she is getting money from her boyfriend.

Do not take any money from your sister, and warn her that, if she continues to fool around with her present boyfriend, he will eventually view her as someone who is very cheap, and one whom he can use anytime he wishes to do so.
