Patra Drops New Dancehall Single No Threat Under Global Distribution Deal

Nineties dancehall trailblazer Patra is back with No Threat, opening a fresh phase of her career that she says will bring more recordings, dates overseas, and a worldwide distribution alliance linking Plus Entertainment Inc., J-House Entertainment, and Sony Orchard.

The release lands as a pointed declaration from an artiste long credited with opening doors for women in dancehall on the world stage, building on her landmark 1990s tenure at Epic Records/Sony Music.

“No Threat is the answer for people who keep asking me if I can still do it because there are younger artistes,” Patra said. “I set the stage internationally. There’s a big cake and everybody can have a slice. I’m Queen of the Pack, and there’s no threat.”

She also saluted the late reggae great Cocoa Tea, noting that the record’s outlook lines up with his. “I have to big up Cocoa Tea because when I wrote this song, I didn’t even realize we shared the same vibe. Much respect to a true legend.”

Coming after her turn in HBO’s highly regarded series Get Millie Black, Patra keeps broadening her creative footprint without stepping away from the realness that has marked her path.

“The only thing that’s new about me is that I’ve become more spiritual and more business-minded. It’s still the same Patra from Westmoreland. I’m just smarter now,” she added.
