Patrick Hylton named chairman-designate of Massy Holdings

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — Patrick Hylton, president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and a former National Commercial Bank chief executive officer, has been named chairman-designate of Massy Holdings, with the appointment taking effect on June 1, 2026.

Massy said in a statement on Thursday that Robert Riley, the outgoing chairman, will continue in the post for now. The company said Riley remains responsible for leading the board and carrying out the authority, obligations and functions attached to the chairmanship.

Hylton, who has served for many years as a director of Massy Holdings, has more than three decades of background in banking, finance and corporate governance. The board pointed to his tenure at NCB Financial Group, during which the company became Jamaica’s biggest and most profitable financial institution and one of the major financial services groups in the English-speaking Caribbean.

He has also chaired Guardian Holdings Limited and is known for strategy, disciplined execution, support for innovation and a focus on customers, according to the company.

Massy said the decision falls under a formal succession plan intended to support sound governance, steady leadership and a measured handover of board leadership over time. The company also cited Hylton’s role in the 1990s restructuring of Jamaica’s financial sector, saying that period helped improve the industry’s stability.

In congratulating him, the board said Hylton’s work across financial services, insurance, private equity, retail and distribution, along with his knowledge of regional commerce, has brought useful judgement and perspective to Massy Holdings.
