Pepsi-Cola Jamaica backs SCT review for sweetened drinks
Pepsi-Cola Jamaica says it supports the Government’s move to take another look at revised Special Consumption Tax rules covering non-alcoholic sweetened drinks.
Finance Minister Fayval Williams announced the review after visiting Pepsi-Cola last week. The visit is part of continued talks between the administration and manufacturers on the tax changes.
Williams said the process should allow her team to improve the guidance for the industry so factories can keep operating smoothly while the State secures revenue for Jamaicans.
Anecia Levy, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica’s transformation manager, told IRIE FM News that the minister’s update shows the working group is serving its purpose by encouraging cooperation and discussion.
