PNP presses Holness on whether he knew Wheatley faced Integrity Commission probe before Cabinet return
The Opposition People's National Party wants to know whether Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness was aware that Dr. Andrew Wheatley was under Integrity Commission review before he returned him to the Cabinet last year.
That scrutiny follows a commission report and a ruling directing that Dr. Wheatley face several charges, including alleged illicit enrichment.
PNP Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson highlighted the contrast between that reinstatement and Dr. Wheatley's departure from government in 2018, when he left amid corruption allegations tied to his time as Minister of Energy.
Robinson has urged other members of parliament who may be under investigation to make that status public.
The Integrity Commission signalled years earlier that some legislators were being examined over suspected illicit enrichment, but did not name them.
