PNP Women Urges INDECOM Support After Granville Police Killings

1 min readSt. James

"We do not support police being judge, jury and executioner," Patricia Duncan-Sutherland, president and spokesperson for PNP Women, said while responding to recent fatal shootings by the police, with particular concern about incidents in the Granville area.

Duncan-Sutherland said that whatever offence a person is accused of committing, and whatever view arresting officers may hold, no civilian should be killed as punishment before facing a court.

Speaking at the People's National Party's post-parliamentary press briefing, she urged witnesses and the wider Granville community to cooperate fully with the Independent Commission of Investigations, saying such support would strengthen community monitoring and help the pursuit of justice.
