Westmoreland triple shooting case ends as judge upholds no-case bids for two constables

Two constables said today they felt "relieved and elated" after the Supreme Court in Kingston cleared them of murder at the end of a four-week trial. Damane Campbell and Kenroy Hinds had each faced three murder counts stemming from gunfire in Shrewsbury, Westmoreland, about 13 years ago, when the deaths helped drive broad unrest across parts of the community.
The fatalities were brothers Andrew and Trystan Brydson and their cousin Kingsley Green.
Reports indicate that in March 2013 the officers, acting on information, went to the site where a shoot-out occurred. The three men were later found dead there, and two guns were reportedly recovered from the location.
This afternoon, Peter Champagnie, who represented Campbell, told IRIE FM News that trial judge Justice Leighton Pusey ruled in favour of the no-case submissions made on behalf of the policemen.
