Police fatally shoot three suspected robbers, including a woman, in Mandeville gun battle
Police have confirmed that a woman was among three people fatally shot during an alleged shootout on Caledonia Road in Mandeville on Saturday afternoon.
Preliminary accounts indicate that officers were called shortly after 4:00 p.m. about a series of robberies and later stopped a getaway vehicle near Hour Glass Curve. A senior police source said those inside the vehicle opened fire on the officers, who returned fire. A prolonged standoff and running gun battle followed.
Police said a woman and two men were removed from the intercepted vehicle and taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
The confrontation took place near the scene of a double murder the previous Saturday, in which nursing student Danny Capunal and Sadeky Henry were shot dead in a taxi by a gunman who had boarded posing as a passenger.
