April Producer Prices Climb In Mining And Manufacturing, STATIN Reports
Producer prices moved higher in April across Jamaica’s mining and quarrying sector and its manufacturing industry, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica reported.
For mining and quarrying, STATIN said the producer price index advanced by 0.6 per cent over the month. The agency linked most of that change to bauxite mining and alumina processing, where the index was up 0.7 per cent.
Manufacturing prices also rose in April, with that industry’s producer price index increasing by 2.6 per cent. STATIN said the main pressure came from Food, Beverages and Tobacco, along with Refined Petroleum Products. Refined Petroleum Products had the largest month-to-month gain, rising 11.7 per cent.
