Radio Jamaica Veteran Broadcaster Daniel Thompson Dies After Heart Attack

Daniel Thompson, a broadcaster whose voice was instantly recognisable to Radio Jamaica listeners for close to three decades, has died.
The station announced Thompson's passing on Thursday, with reports indicating he succumbed to a heart attack.
Over his 28 years at Radio Jamaica, Thompson worked through every time slot on the schedule and left his imprint on a number of the station's programmes. He hosted his own show and, in more recent years, was a regular contributor to the call-in programme Hotline.
Listeners also came to know him through the popular 'X and Y' segment, which he presented with Emily Shields. Beyond his talk-show duties, Thompson built a strong reputation as a newsreader.
