2 min read

Dancehall performer Queenie says she is deeply upset by the poor uptake and limited excitement surrounding her seven-song extended play Reign, and she is urging supporters to get behind the record.

The veteran entertainer, who recently broke down online over weak sales figures, told THE STAR that the response has left her extremely disappointed.

"Nobody nah pay the EP nuh mind and mi disappointed because remember mi a come from shoplifting to a do something positive and nobody nah support mi. When mi a trace pon di Internet, the blogger dem take it and run with it, and now mi can't get a forward from dem. Mi frustrated man, suh mi just start bawl," she said.

The project arrived on June 19 through Queenie's June Plum Record Label and carries production from the singer herself as well as dancehall artiste Sikka Rhymes.

"Throughout the years, mi put a lot in the industry. Remember a seven track on the EP and mi have a Christian song on it and a condolence track. Suh dem can choose what dem prefer. Being 56 years old, I have done a lot of endorsements for others and a mi say girl power, so mi expect the nation to support mi. After all, I am the queen and mi never just get the title and the throne suh. Mi go through the good, bad and indifferent and mi wheel and come again," Queenie said.

Queenie also told THE STAR that she and her estranged husband Dewy are back in contact. She said she had prayed for peace between them even though they are not romantically involved.

"A two years and two months Dewy gone and, because a one dutty dream, him reach out back. We are communicating and he has come publicly and apologised. But remember, Dewy is in Canada and I am in England, so there caan be nuh 'deh back'. The peace make, and that was what I prayed for," Queenie said.
