Patrick named Spanish Town Police FC coach days after Racing United exit
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Club football has seen another quick coaching change as Anthony Patrick takes over at Spanish Town Police FC only days after Racing United released him.
Patrick had led Racing United since 2017, lifting the team from St Catherine Division Two into the Jamaica Premier League, the country's highest division. In two seasons at top-flight level, he delivered a top-six finish and a playoff place before Portmore United, who went on to win the championship, knocked them out.
Even with those gains on the pitch, disagreements with Racing United's new owners cost him the post. Spanish Town Police, who had been trying to sign him for several years, have now brought him in. His brief is to restore the club to the Premier League after they went down in their first season in the top tier.
Separately, the Racing United management group also ended Patrick's tenure at St Catherine High School, where he had won two Walker Cup titles and guided the squad to the Manning Cup final in 2024.
