Rajindra Campbell has lowered the Jamaican men's shot put record for the second time in just over a month, winning Thursday's competition at the International Athletics Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia with a throw of 22.44 metres.

The Paris Olympic bronze medallist improved on the 22.34m mark he set at the Xiamen Diamond League on May 23. Campbell finished ahead of Italy's Leonardo Fabri, who recorded 22.21m, and New Zealand's Tom Walsh, who placed third with 22.42m on countback.

Campbell now accounts for nine of the 10 best throws ever recorded by Jamaican men in the event.

The Zagreb meet continues on Friday with five Jamaicans set to compete across track and field.

Two-time Olympic double sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is entered in the women's 100 metres, where she will line up against fellow Jamaican Briana Williams, Poland's Ewa Swoboda and New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs.

Newly crowned national champion Stacey-Ann Williams will run the women's 400 metres, while two-time World Championship bronze medallist Rushell Clayton is scheduled for the women's 400-metre hurdles.

In the field events, 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle will contest the men's long jump.
