Raúl Jiménez brings veteran firepower to Mexico’s World Cup attack

1 min read

Mexico are preparing to lean on Raúl Jiménez again, trusting the seasoned striker’s know-how and scoring touch as they chase a strong showing at this month’s FIFA World Cup.

Jiménez, now 35, is heading to his fourth World Cup and remains a central figure for Mexico, with the national team expected to place him at the front of its attack.

He arrives after another solid campaign in the English Premier League with Fulham, where he found the net nine times and showed the reliability and class that have helped define his career as one of Mexico’s leading forwards.

The veteran also had a major hand in Mexico’s 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup success. In the final against the United States, he brought Mexico level in the 27th minute before his team completed a 2-1 win to claim the regional crown.

With 44 international goals, Jiménez stands third on Mexico’s all-time scoring chart, backed by a reputation for sharp finishing, strength in the air and calmness when chances fall in the box.

Mexico will be counting on that presence and long service as they aim to push far into the World Cup. After more than 10 years representing his country at the top level, Jiménez is still viewed among international football’s most dangerous centre-forwards.
