Realjedii Taps Frassman Brilliant for Dancehall Single Defiance
Producer Realjedii has linked with dancehall artiste Frassman Brilliant for Defiance, the opening cut from Realjedii's forthcoming third compilation album.
"This collaboration with Frassman Brilliant came from a mutual place, being that we have musical chemistry working together. We spoke for a while before I sent him the instrumental, and the rest is history," Realjedii told Observer Online recently.
The single arrived on May 29 via Jedii Musiq, with ONErpm handling distribution. Its official video is set to come out on May 31.
Realjedii said the wider Defiance project is developing as a six-song EP, though the final track list has not been settled. "I am open to the right additions; because I don't usually like to flood my jugglings with too many songs," he said.
The release is also expected to include music from up-and-coming performers such as Germany-based Inti Ayvar Waltz and Dahdidah. Waltz's track, Live Your Life, is slated for June.
Realjedii said the decision to give space to younger names was intentional. "You could say it's a bit of a strategic move with the album lineup having more new emerging artists than my previous albums. However, this one is being led by Frassman Brilliant, who is well-known in the dancehall music space," he reasoned.
His earlier projects include Balla Riddim and Jama-piano. "My intention to release this project at this time was to have new music for the summer vibes, and to also have more music in the space. I am always working on building my musical catalogue," the producer disclosed.
Frassman Brilliant said Realjedii has been around his career from its early stage. "Realjedii has been a part of my team from the early days of my career, and we have worked on songs like Balla and African Beauty, and now Defiance. We also have songs that are not yet released," he said.
The artiste said Defiance speaks to his own mindset. "Defiance is just who I am and will always be, so I am just speaking from a real place as far as the song is concerned," he added.
