Redemption Sports Club claim two Genesis Cup youth football titles in Mandeville
Redemption Sports Club finished as the standout team at the 2026 Genesis Cup in Mandeville over the weekend, lifting two trophies at the youth football tournament.
The club secured both the under-10 and under-14 titles, making them double champions at this year’s staging. Central Kingston took the under-12 crown, Calabar topped the under-16 category, and Football is Freedom won the under-15 girls’ title.
The result continued a strong run for Redemption in the younger age groups. A speaker in the report noted that the club had won the under-12 and under-11 divisions last year and had also produced similar success the year before, pointing to a steady flow of young players coming through its programme.
Convener Andrew Edwards said the seventh staging of the Genesis Cup showed encouraging signs for youth football. He said many teams displayed improved play, with coaches applying tactical and strategic ideas during matches.
A total of 30 teams participated in the tournament. Cooper’s Pen of Trelawny was listed as a no-show.
Edwards said the competition continues to provide an important development platform for young players, adding that Genesis was proud to help create opportunities at that level.
