Retirement Close links Boscobel to St Mary north coast highway

Retirement Close in Boscobel, St Mary Parish, offers a short offshoot from the Ocho Rios to White River Road, widely known as Jamaica's northern coastal highway, before the route rejoins the main corridor linking Oracabessa and White River.

Motorists travelling west through Boscobel use the Ocho Rios to White River Road in the direction of Stewart Town and Runaway Bay, an area also referenced as Rio Nuevo within St Mary. That highway forms a primary link for north-coast settlements including Pompano Bay, Tower Isles, Prospect, White River, and Ocho Rios. Retirement Close peels away from the coastal road partway along that westbound run, rather than continuing straight toward those communities.

The Close is a limited spur. Where it ends, drivers turn back onto the Oracabessa to White River Road, again identified as the northern coastal highway. From that intersection, the road network splits access across eastern and western St Mary. A right-hand turn leads into another part of Boscobel and onward toward the Ian Fleming International Airport, Oracabessa, and neighbouring areas. Turning left sends traffic west along the coast through Stewart Town toward Rio Nuevo and Runaway Bay, with further connections to Pompano Bay, Tower Isles, Prospect, White River, and Ocho Rios.

Footage of the route shows a westbound approach along the Ocho Rios to White River Road before the turn onto Retirement Close, illustrating how a brief deviation from the main highway loops back to the same arterial corridor. Had the drive continued straight on the Ocho Rios to White River Road, the road would have carried traffic directly toward Stewart Town, Runaway Bay, and the chain of coastal communities extending west to Ocho Rios.

For residents and visitors mapping travel through north St Mary, Retirement Close marks a short lateral link between Boscobel and the wider coastal route that handles east-west movement along the parish shoreline.
