Ride All Day leads ante-post market for Diamond Mile return at Caymanas

Reigning Horse of the Year Ride All Day is the ante-post favourite for Saturday’s sixth running of the Diamond Mile at Caymanas Park. The $10 million Grade One contest is back on Jamaica’s racing calendar after a six-year hiatus.

Thirteen runners will line up for the mile, with four horses most strongly supported. Mutai Mile winner Ride All Day sits at 9-2-5. Next is Legacy Isle at 5-2-2 for two-time reigning champion jockey Raddesh Roman, then Nautical Star at 7-2-2 with six-time former champion Omar Walker, and Phenomenal Power at 9-2-2 for in-form apprentice Tajay Suckie.

Trainer Philip Feanny’s four-year-old American-bred colt Ride All Day is chasing a fourth straight win. Veteran jockey Ian “Dolly Baby” Spence takes the mount from post 13. Spence has never been beaten on Ride All Day and has partnered the horse in six of its nine career victories.

Connections report the colt has trained impressively. On his seasonal debut on April 6 he set a new track record for eight and a half furlongs, and he is widely regarded as the horse the rest must beat.

Two-time Mutai Mile runner-up Legacy Isle is expected to run well again and finish in the money, along with Phenomenal Power and Nautical Star. 2024 Mutai Mile winner Funky Don is also given a chance of being in the mix late.

Victory in the Diamond Mile brings automatic entry to December’s Mutai Mile. The race is carded as the 11th and final event, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with first post at 11:25 a.m.
