Rodri booked for Monday back surgery, Maresca says

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that World Cup winner Rodri will go under the knife on Monday to address a back problem.

Spain’s national captain rediscovered his best form at the World Cup, yet persistent fitness troubles have hampered him with his club over the past few seasons.

According to Maresca, the midfielder will require an extended spell of rest and rehabilitation. The manager also brushed aside suggestions that Rodri could leave for Real Madrid.

No firm date has been set for his comeback as City gear up for the coming campaign.
