A shopkeeper was shot and killed at her roadside establishment along the Alston main road near Spalding in northern Clarendon on Friday afternoon.
The victim, known only by her alias “Shine,” was attacked at about 4:30 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that a lone gunman approached the business and opened fire, hitting the woman multiple times before fleeing the area.
Residents alerted the police, and the injured shopkeeper was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators have not yet established a motive for the fatal shooting.
Although Alston is geographically located in Clarendon, the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Manchester Police Division, which is leading the investigation.
