CVM’s Tuesday, June 9, 2026 newscast led with the Sagicor Bank trial, where four former employees face a 22-count indictment involving $65 million. The defendants are Tricia Molton, her sister Alysia Molton White, personal banking officer Malikica Mloud and client care officer Tishan Samuels.

The Crown sought to place banking records before the court, including statements, debit advice forms, vouchers and wire-transfer receipts. Testimony said user transaction reports for July to September 2022 were retrieved and entered as exhibits 27 to 30. The defence questioned the record systems and access to documents, while the prosecution said the material had been disclosed since about 2024. The judge indicated that business records already disclosed and identified by email could be admissible. The court is expected to hear next from individual account holders.

In St Elizabeth, police detained 16 people and seized a 9mm Taurus pistol during a joint operation across communities in the Santa Cruz policing area, including Leeds, Go Seven’s Corner and Providence Acres. Superintendent Koolage Mento said more than 100 officers took part, with support from specialised units, the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch and the K-9 Division. He said the searches were completed without force and praised residents’ cooperation.

Mento also urged wanted persons and persons of interest to report through an attorney or justice of the peace. He noted that a man wanted in connection with a May 15 killing in Whitehall Square, Bethlehem, had surrendered. Reports said Radcliffe Alcock was chopped while intervening in a dispute and later died in hospital.

Heavy rainfall also flooded sections of the St Thomas main road. The National Works Agency said early checks suggested drains were blocked by sand, gravel and debris from nearby construction activity.

Other reports said Jamaica’s tourism sector remains on alert over the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hanover churches received nearly $8.5 million for Hurricane Melissa recovery, two young women received new UHWI health scholarships, and JTA President Mark Malava warned that a 16 per cent fare increase for transport operators is adding pressure to teacher wage talks.
