Serena Williams Accepts Queen’s Club Doubles Wild Card For Tennis Comeback

Serena Williams is preparing to compete again on the professional tennis circuit at 44, almost four years after stepping away from match play.

The WTA Tour said Monday that Williams, who owns 23 Grand Slam singles titles, has received a wild card to enter doubles at the upcoming grass-court event at Queen’s Club.

The Queen’s Club tournament is scheduled to begin June 8.

Williams has not played competitively since her farewell run at the 2022 U.S. Open. At that time, she said she did not want to describe the move as “retiring”, instead saying she was “evolving” away from tennis.
