Seven killed in Bogue Gate highway crash in Trelawny

Seven people are dead following a two-vehicle collision on the Bogue Gate section of the highway in Trelawny, after a second patient treated at Falmouth General Hospital died from injuries on Friday morning.

Five of the victims died at the crash scene. The smash involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Hino truck. Officials have not yet released the names of those killed.

The Hiace bus driver is reported to be the only survivor.

With the latest deaths, Trelawny has recorded 21 road fatalities since the start of the year, up from 15 over the same stretch of last year.

Authorities say they have not yet fully determined what caused the crash, and the investigation remains open.
