Seven Overseas Jamaicans Honoured at Governor-General Diaspora Achievement Awards in Montego Bay
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Seven overseas Jamaicans were presented with the 2026 Governor-General's Achievement Awards – Diaspora on Monday, during a ceremony held as part of the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference in Montego Bay.
The honourees come from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, and France. They were recognised for contributions in education, mentorship, humanitarian work, cultural preservation, trade, and community development.
Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen lauded the recipients for their devotion to Jamaica and their sustained service within diaspora communities across the globe.
"The Jamaican Diaspora remains one of our nation's greatest strengths," Sir Patrick said, pointing to the awardees as models of excellence, leadership, and dedication to national development.
The awards programme, which began in 2008, salutes Jamaicans living abroad who have made notable contributions to both their local communities overseas and to Jamaica.
