Shakira Posts Rihanna Track on Instagram After Spain Tax Case Acquittal

Shakira turned to a well-known 2015 Rihanna track on social media in the wake of her acquittal in a tax fraud case before Spain’s High Court. In an Instagram post on Monday, 18 May — the same day reports said she could receive reimbursement from the government worth tens of millions of dollars — the four-time Grammy winner set a batch of photos to “Better Have My Money.” She gave no further explanation, but many supporters read the audio choice as a nod to her court outcome.
In a recent statement, Shakira’s legal team said the ruling “represents a milestone in a complex proceeding that required years of work, technical rigor, and a robust legal defense.” The artist had earlier responded to the decision by stating there was “never any fraud.”
Her schedule now turns to North America. Tour dates start with back-to-back performances in June at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome and close in late July at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. Earlier this month she told fans the run would be “full of surprises.”
