1 min read
MADRID, Spain (AFP) — Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Sunday condemned remarks by former conservative leader Mariano Rajoy as “xenophobic statements,” after Rajoy argued in an opinion column that the French national football side contained “no French players.”
“There are those who still measure belonging by surname, place of birth, or skin colour. Others measure it by our roots in a country and our will to contribute to it,” Sanchez wrote on X.
