
A shooting on Corletts Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Wednesday night left a 36-year-old man dead and three other people nursing injuries.
Police named the man who died as Barton Stewart, a self-employed man who lived in the community. The three surviving victims, one of them a woman, are said to be between 21 and 28 years old.
According to reports, around 10:30 p.m., Stewart was at his gate speaking with another man when men carrying guns came up and fired at them, striking both.
Investigators were told the woman was in her bathroom when a bullet hit her in the thigh. Another male victim was reportedly walking on the road when one of the assailants pursued him and shot him.
The injured group was transported to Spanish Town Hospital. Stewart was declared dead there, while the other three were admitted for medical care.
Police said no motive has yet been determined. The Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch is carrying out the probe.
