Spanish Town mechanic Richard Robinson killed in early-morning shooting

Detectives are hunting a gunman accused of killing a resident at a dwelling in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday.

The victim has been named as Richard Robinson, a 34-year-old mechanic also known as Twinny. He resided in the Backland community off March Pen Road.

Officers say Robinson was inside his quarters at about 4:00 a.m. when loud blasts were heard from the room. A man was then observed exiting that room while carrying a firearm, police stated.

When officers reached the scene, they found Robinson lying in blood within the room, with injuries consistent with gunshots to the head. He was taken to Spanish Town Hospital and declared dead there.

Authorities have not identified a reason for the attack. The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the inquiry.
