Gunfire brought an annual Big Wall carnival-season party to a sudden stop last Sunday at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew, leaving three people wounded, among them a visitor from the United States. Officers detained music producer Jahvey and podcaster Fray in connection with the episode; investigators have not publicly settled what triggered the gunshots. Online clips drew heavy traffic around Fray after claims circulated that he had seized a weapon from an attacker.

United States rapper Cardi B, long vocal about her interest in dancehall, brought deejay Vybz Kartel out during the Florida leg of her Little Miss Drama tour, with Rebel and Sher Luxury Doll also on stage.

World Athletics' Nationality Review Panel has turned down requests from four Jamaican track-and-field athletes who sought to compete for Turkey: Olympic discus thrower Rojay Stona, shot putter Rajindra Campbell, long jumper Wayne Pinnock, and triple jumper Jaydon Hibbert. In a written rationale, the panel said granting the switches would weaken the purpose of its eligibility and transfer rules. It also refused seven additional applications from other competitors who had aimed to represent Turkey.

Peter Perry, who runs Perry's Funeral Home, interred his dog Babes on Thursday after a lengthy wake the day before. He had previously staged a similar farewell for another household dog in 2022. Perry stresses that his company still does not market funeral packages for animals; he treated Babes as a personal exception.

A 40-year-old woman writing to the Dear Pastor column said her husband is attentive with chores and parenting but demands sex far more often than she can manage, including on the same night and again the next morning, sometimes waking her for intercourse. She fears pushing back will cost her the marriage. The columnist urged her to value a responsive partner while asking the husband to exercise restraint, recalling that she once had to plead with a former spouse for affection.
