A St. Ann man accused of assaulting his wife after she placed their wedding pictures on his Instagram account has been remanded, while police are also probing a deadly family dispute in St. Elizabeth and a fatal pedestrian crash in Ocho Rios.

In the St. Elizabeth case, police said a 19-year-old was taken into custody after two brothers and their mother were chopped during a domestic dispute in Stevenson Town, near Southfield, on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Travis Williams, a labourer from the community. Investigators said the attack happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. A 14-year-old sibling and their 43-year-old mother were taken to hospital in critical condition, while Williams died at the scene with multiple chop wounds.

In St. Ann, an unidentified woman died after she was hit by a Toyota Mark X along the Ocho Rios main road sometime after 6:00 a.m. Saturday, according to the Jamaica Constabulary Force Communications Network. Further details were not immediately available.

The courts also heard allegations against Devon MacHugon of Bamboo, St. Ann, who appeared in the St. James Parish Court on an unlawful wounding charge involving his wife. The alleged incident took place about 7:30 a.m. on May 27 at a short-term rental in Runaway Bay. Prosecutors alleged that MacHugon became angry over the Instagram post, beat the complainant, tried to strangle her, urinated on her, spat in her face and threw a phone that wounded her. He is also accused of taking car keys to stop her from leaving.

The woman, who had travelled from the United States, told the court she still loved her husband and wanted to work on the marriage. Judge Natalie Fairclough-Hilton urged her to consider her physical and mental well-being. After being told the alleged offence happened while MacHugon was on bail in another St. Ann matter, the judge revoked bail, remanded him until July 2, and transferred the case to the St. Ann Parish Court.

In St. James, Senior Superintendent Aaron Samuels warned that hurricane damage along Long Hill Road could worsen during the rainy season and force traffic restrictions. He also urged stronger safety measures near road works, citing recent fatal crashes along the Rose Hall corridor. Montego Bay Mayor Richard Vernon said the municipal corporation would contact the National Works Agency about Long Hill and raise related concerns about the Roaring River main road.
