St Catherine Woman Gets $1.5m Bail In Alleged Land Sale Fraud Case

St. Catherine

Jeanell Warren, 25, has been offered bail in the sum of $1.5 million with one to two sureties after appearing in the St Catherine Parish Court on an allegation that she took $1.4 million for property she did not own.

Warren is before the court on a charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

Parish Court Judge Courtney Maxwell, in setting bail, directed Warren to report to the Spanish Town police every Tuesday. She was also instructed to hand over her travel documents and to stay away from the complainant.

The case is scheduled to return to court on July 17.

Investigators allege that sometime between January and April 17, 2026, Warren put a parcel of land up for sale. The complainant is said to have paid Warren $1.4 million in total for the property.

Police say Warren later became difficult to reach. The complainant then made checks and reportedly discovered that Warren was not the owner of the land.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police, after which an investigation was carried out. Warren was later arrested and charged.
