St Catherine policeman Shanki Gordon killed in Ewarton motorcycle crash

St. Catherine

Constable Shanki Gordon, who served in the St Catherine North Division, died early Monday after his motorcycle was involved in a crash in St Catherine. Gordon was attached to the St Catherine North Operation Team.

Police reports indicate that Gordon was riding in Ewarton, St Catherine, about 2 a.m. when the collision occurred. The details of how the crash happened were not immediately known.

Gordon sustained serious injuries and was brought to Linstead Hospital. Preliminary police information said he was pronounced dead there at about 2:38 a.m.

Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson, who leads the St Catherine North Division, remembered Gordon as a committed, versatile member of the force.

"He was a very energetic individual who would go beyond the call of duty and get the job done," Nicholson told The Gleaner. "He was also a jovial person who could create laughter on any subject. Trust me, he is sadly missed."

Other colleagues of Gordon also shared similar views about him.
