Stewards hand Storm Boy second career win after interference ruling

Storm Boy, a six-year-old dark bay/brown horse, recorded his second lifetime victory on Saturday, June 13, 2026, even though he was not the first past the post. Under trainer Marlon Anderson and jockey Phillip Parchment, the gelding crossed the line behind Absolute Blue, with Raddesh Roman aboard the apparent winner.

The contest was a five-year-old-and-upward Optional Claiming event carrying a $200,000 tag, contested over six furlongs (1,200 metres). The card also accepted native-bred runners aged six and older that were non-winners of two.

Parchment raised a jockey objection once the race had ended, and stewards opened an inquiry into the finish. After reviewing the run-in, officials stripped Absolute Blue of the win, ruling that the horse had interfered with and intimidated Storm Boy through the final furlong (200 metres). The result was revised in Storm Boy's favour. Manoushe, ridden by Shaheem Gordon, was awarded third place.
