Tajay Suckoo steers Phenomenal Power to Diamond Mile glory at Caymanas
Apprentice rider Tajay Suckoo and conditioner Peter-John Parsard dominated the headlines on Saturday’s 11-race programme at Caymanas Park.
In the feature, American-bred Phenomenal Power delivered a strong run to capture the lucrative Diamond Mile. The three-year-old, raced by ACK Stables and prepared by Adrian Prince, scored at 9-1 in a 13-runner field for the $10 million purse, with in-form claiming rider Suckoo aboard. Phenomenal Power held firm as Girvano closed hard late.
The Diamond Mile success completed a treble for Suckoo, who had earlier partnered Delta Gamma — a late booking in place of Radish Roman — and Bossman.
Bossman counted among four victories for Parsard as he keeps alive hopes of a late tilt at the trainers’ championship. He remains third in the standings, still well behind pacesetter Jason Dosta. Parsard’s remaining winners on the day were Turn On The Light, Monolithic Majestic and The Head Cornerstone.
