Thelma Ruth Global Grace opens licensed senior care facility in Spanish Town
Carrie-Ann and Ian Green, founders of Thelma Ruth Global Grace, say the new senior living and nursing care facility in Green Acres, Spanish Town, was created after their own difficult search for quality care for Ian Green’s stepfather.
Ian Green, a professional engineer, said the idea grew out of frustration with available options. The facility’s name honours his mother, who died from cancer at age 40.
The Greens said the business is licensed, following a three-year approval process involving several state and local agencies. They named the parish council, the National Environment and Planning Agency, the fire brigade and the National Works Agency among the bodies involved, noting that the process was lengthy, complex and costly.
The facility offers residential nursing care as well as senior day care, allowing families to leave loved ones for a few hours, a day or a weekend when needed. Its rooms include single beds, double beds, hospital beds, air conditioning and televisions, while cameras are installed across the property to help monitor care and residents’ wellbeing.
The Greens also highlighted outdoor and wellness features, including a lawn, a fish pond with koi, goldfish and pet sharks, gardening areas with vegetables and bananas, and planned outings to places such as mineral spas, Milk River and Devon House. They said the aim is to keep residents active rather than simply housed.
Among the equipment shown were a portable red-light sauna, foot massage machines, robotic hand and arm devices for movement support, a knee massager and other rehabilitation-focused technology. The facility also has gyms on both floors, along with games, story time, arts and craft activities and special games for residents with Alzheimer’s disease.
