All fuel categories to fall from tomorrow as Petrojam cuts ex-refinery rates
Every category of fuel sold at the pump will cost less from tomorrow, after Petrojam issued lower ex-refinery rates that retailers will pass on with their usual station mark-ups.
Regular 87-octane and 90-octane gasoline will each fall by 25 cents per litre. Automotive diesel will drop by $10.50, while ultra-low sulphur diesel will come down by $3.06. Kerosene is set to decline by $4.50. Propane will be reduced by $2.10 and butane by $3.06.
Service stations across the island are expected to adjust their posted prices in line with the new guidance from the state-owned refinery.
On the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the main index lost 972 points during Thursday’s session, while the junior market slipped 27 points. Among the stocks that gained ground were JFP Limited, Mailpac Group, JMMB Group 7.15% cumulative redeemable preference shares, Sterling Investments and Jetcon Corporation. Decliners included Cargo Handlers, Caribbean Cream, Mayberry Jamaican Equities, 138 Student Living Jamaica and Proven Group US dollar shares. Seventeen stocks closed firm.
In foreign-exchange trading at the close, banks and cambios were selling the United States dollar at an average of $158.19. The Canadian dollar was offered at $112.15, the British pound at $210.87 and the euro at an average of $180.96.
