TODSS seeks full inquiry after seven die in Falmouth road smash

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Service (TODSS) has pressed for a complete probe into Friday’s fatal collision involving two vehicles on the Salt Marsh main road in Falmouth, Trelawny, where seven people lost their lives.

In remarks released Friday, the group linked the disaster to an earlier smash at the same location on July 6, 2025, that killed five persons — four of them transport operators.

“Of interest, this area where the crash took place formed part of a discussion we had at the National Road Safety Council meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2026,” the organisation noted.

TODSS stressed it was “not saying for a moment that Friday’s crash was caused by poor road conditions”, yet said it keeps highlighting problems with selected roadways, especially across the island’s north and west.

“We are calling on authorities to do a thorough investigation and make public the cause of this crash,” the statement said.

The group also offered sympathy to relatives, friends, co-workers and communities touched by the loss.

“As thousands of patrons prepare to travel to St Ann this weekend, we urge you to travel with the utmost caution, remembering at all times who you left behind waiting on you to return home,” TODSS said.
