Tower Band, which entered Jamaica's music space in 2015 as a backing outfit for recognised reggae and dancehall performers, is moving to introduce its latest project to the public.
The group, noted for bringing dancehall to the stage with a full-band sound and lively presentation, will launch Dancehall Future at Supa Heavy Wednesdays on June 3. The event is set for Jangas Soundbar and Grill in New Kingston.
Andre "Kryss Ras" Barnes, the band's leader and drummer, told Observer Online earlier this week that patrons should look forward to a high-energy show with performances, entertainment, lyrics and guest artistes. He said Tower Band intends to "bring the house down" on the night.
Dancehall Future contains 16 tracks and is scheduled for its official release during the launch event. The mixtape includes collaborations with Charly Black, Rytikal, 10Tik and Yaksta.
Rayon "Prof" Smith and Barnes produced the project, while DJ West of Zip FM handled the mixing. Smith said the material moves across several themes, including love, encouragement and inspirational messages.
The mixtape is backed by Winchester Xavier Associates Jamaica Limited and Stage Sound Solution, and will be issued on the Tower Music Group label.
Barnes said Tower Band sees itself as different from other music groups because of its focus on presenting dancehall through live performance. He said the band wants to make an impact on the current generation, become a stronger force in the music space, and ensure its songs connect with listeners.
