Tuff Heart makes his debut on New York Reggae chart

A song he wrote passionately from the heart, titled Oh Girls, has given emerging reggae artiste Tuff Heart his first entry on the New York Reggae chart.

“As a ghetto youth we always want a girl from overseas; it’s coming from a real experience. I was married to an American and I wanted to share that experience in song. So that’s how the song Oh Girls came about,” Tuff Heart told the Jamaica Observer on Monday.

He is pleased that the song has resonated with listeners to make its debut on the New York Reggae chart.

“Wow, its magnificent to see this happen after all these years of doing music, y’know. Yuh haffi believe inna God, believe inna youself, and push hard,” said Tuff Heart, who co-produced Oh Girls with Miami based Young Lion.

Born Dowayne Morrison, Tuff Heart is from the Kingston 20 area.

Still on the New York Reggae chart, Niceness by Nadine Sutherland takes over the 31st spot, while Caah Believe by Chezidek advances to #2.

Butterflies by Buju Banton flew from 23 to #17.

Moving now to the South Florida Reggae chart, Have a Little Faith by Willie Stewart and Friends rockets to the #1 spot, with Struggle On by Luciano stepping up from #12 to #10.

For a fifth week, Looking Lovely by Shaggy and Robin Thicke dominates the #1 spot on the Voice of the Caribbean’s Florida Reggae and Dancehall Top 20 Radio Singles chart, while Panic by Vybz Kartel and Shenseea remains at #2.

Ready For the Ride by Sean Paul and Stalk Ashley steps up four places to #3, Goddess by Protoje and Shenseea is up to #4, while Emotions by J’Calm and Nigy Boy backtracks from #3 to #5.

Christopher Martin’s radio heavy Don’t Have to Ask, featured on Big Yard Music Group’s Happy Wife rhythm, bullets from #11 to #6, and Hills and Valleys by Jigsy King is new at #19.

Iley Dread’s Nah Cheat occupies pole position on the Reggae North Canadian Top 20 Reggae and Dancehall chart, with Celena’s Feels Like a Movie sitting at #2.

So Long by Neto Yuth and Anthony B remains at #3, while Chant by Paris Ivy is #4, and Cucumba by Tugstar is #5.

Over on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, Show Us the Way by Eddie Bullen, featuring Kandice K.A.S.H, Tasha T, and Mel Dube’, stays put at #1.

Forevermore by Jurney Star and Shine by Elaine Shepherd are #2 and #3, respectively, while Rise Up by Belinda Brady and Ten Foot Wall by Tasha T are #4 and #5.

Jamaican (Bam Bam), the Afro/house/dance remix of Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam by HUGEL and SOLTO rises to #143 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart while charging from #82 to #71 on Global Excluding US chart.

(When You Gonna) Give it Up to Me by Sean Paul and Keyshia Cole backtracks from #52 to #59 on Global 200, while remaining at #34 on Global Excluding US.

Shaggy and Robin Thicke’s Looking Lovely makes gains on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, flying from #40 to #35.

And, finally, on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers remains at #1 for a 329th non-consecutive week.

Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul re-enters at #2, with Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy holding firm at #3.

World on Fire by Stick Figure and Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock occupy positions #4 and #5, Greatest Hits by UB40 and Wisdom by Stick Figure are #6 and #7, while Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers re-enter at #8.

Set in Stone by Stick Figure inches up to #9, and Kaya by Bob Marley and the Wailers re-enter at #10.

Of note, Panic by Vybz Kartel and Shenseea has been serviced to rhythmic radio stateside, and its impact is expected to bear fruit on the Billboard Rhythmic Airplay chart within the next few weeks.
