TVJ hosts free World Cup final watch party at Jamaica College on Sunday

Television Jamaica will host a free public watch party for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday at Jamaica College, with gates and activities opening at noon ahead of a 2 p.m. kickoff between Argentina and Spain.

Nicaro Williams, marketing and special projects supervisor for broadcast media at the RGR Communications Group, said the event is meant to give fans a full match-day atmosphere on campus. Sponsors Red Stripe, Sunshine Snacks and KFC are expected on site with activities, giveaways and product offers. Red Stripe plans multiple setup areas, including outdoor activity space before guests enter the auditorium and a bar area inside. Sunshine Snacks will run activities and giveaways, and KFC is also expected at the venue.

Entry is free, with no age limit. Organisers say seating and cooling fans will be provided. Some items will be sold at discounted prices, while other products will be given away.

Appearing on TVJ’s Smile Jamaica with Williams, international football coach Miguel Coley said he tipped France to win the tournament before it began, citing the side’s balance and quality. He said Spain then outclassed France in their meeting after France allowed too much space. Looking ahead to the final, Coley described Argentina and Spain as evenly matched, especially in midfield, noting both prefer possession — Spain averaging about 64 per cent and Argentina about 55 per cent — and suggested a moment of individual brilliance could decide the contest.

On the third-place match, Coley said predicting the outcome is hard and noted that such fixtures are often among the least prized games in football. Asked who would lift the World Cup, one of the guests favoured Spain; Coley’s comments leaned toward Argentina’s chances while leaving room for Spain.

Hosts also noted Coley’s schoolboy football record at Jamaica College, where he won five Manning Cups from 2013 to 2017 and 12 overall. Organisers said the Sunday atmosphere at the True Blue campus should make it a prime place to take in the final.
