A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is reported to have died by suicide at the Maroon Town Police Station in St James on Sunday morning.
The policeman has been identified as Constable M. Francis, who was also known as "Teddy".
Fellow officers said Francis was discovered in the station barracks shortly before 9 a.m. with a gunshot injury.
Senior Superintendent Eron Samuels, head of the St James police, confirmed the incident, but said he could not provide additional information right away. Reports also indicate that Francis had been facing disciplinary proceedings before his death.
