Troy double killing lifts Trelawny murder count to seven this year

1 min readTrelawny

Two deaths in Troy, Trelawny, on Tuesday have taken the parish’s murder total for the year to seven, according to police.

The victims were 10-year-old Shani Coke and a man accused of killing her, who died after a crowd set upon him. That year-to-date figure matches the number recorded for the same stretch of last year.

Superintendent Velonique Campbell, who commands the Trelawny police division, shared the update at an Area One town hall on Wednesday. She reported that interpersonal disputes accounted for three of the killings.

Campbell said officers continue efforts to cut crime in the parish and have recovered 11 guns since January. Police have also arrested four men who were on wanted lists.
