St Mary police are looking into the death of a man whose identity remains unknown after his body turned up on the shoreline at Robins Bay Beach near Green Castle on Thursday morning.
A resident reported seeing the body on the beach, and officers reached the scene at about 7:30 a.m. They found an unidentified male lying along the shore.
Superintendent Anthony Wallace, who heads the St Mary Police Division, said the remains were taken from the area for a post-mortem examination so investigators can establish how he died.
"The body was removed from the scene pending a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. At this time, the deceased has not been identified, and investigations are ongoing," Wallace said.
Anyone who can help name the deceased or who has information useful to the probe is asked to call the Port Maria CIB at 876-333-9530 or 876-994-4222, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
