The Jamaica Defence Force says firefighters have put out a fire that affected the barracks section of Up Park Camp yesterday.
According to a JDF release, the incident was called in at about 7:41 p.m. The JDF Fire Unit was joined by crews from Rollington Town, Half-Way Tree, York Park, Trench Town and Spanish Town as they worked to bring the situation under control.
The army says investigators will start their probe after the damaged section is cleared as safe for access by the proper authorities. Officials have not yet determined what started the fire.
Fire Brigade Commissioner Stewart Beckford said the response ended around 11:50 p.m. He also said the building involved in the blaze received major damage.
