Valiant And Shenseea Link For My Turn On Rvssian’s Island Villa Riddim
Dancehall artistes Valiant and Shenseea are drawing fresh attention in Jamaica, the wider Caribbean and overseas with My Turn, the first song released from Rvssian’s Island Villa riddim.
The track comes through Head Concussion Records, with Hapilos handling worldwide distribution and marketing. It brings together two of Jamaica’s best-known current performers on a dancehall cut built around bright melodies and an easy, teasing connection.
On the single, Valiant and Shenseea trade lines around attraction, romance and desire, using tuneful delivery and memorable hooks to shape the record into a contemporary dancehall love song.
The music video, directed by Shane Creative, adds another layer to the rollout with a concept rooted in the look and pop culture of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The visuals feature oversized sports jerseys, durags, headbands, kerchiefs, bold jewellery, tinted eyewear and old-school gaming touches tied to that period.
Filmed in several settings, among them an arcade and an upscale villa, the video also uses Pac-Man-style imagery and portable game devices recalling the Game Boy era.
My Turn also points back to Rvssian’s place in dancehall. The producer is widely regarded as one of the genre’s leading figures, and through Head Concussion Records he has built a reputation for connecting Jamaican music with international sounds while contributing to some of dancehall’s major records over the past decade.
