Father and Son Among Four Killed in Retirement Police Operation in Montego Bay
Four men, among them a reported father and son, were killed on Wednesday morning during an operation by members of the security forces near the Retirement landfill in Montego Bay, St. James.
The dead men have been named as Brian Faircluff, also known as “TZ”, and Brian Fairlo Jr., also known as “TJ”. The elder man was described as a tractor operator employed at a nearby quarry, while TJ was said to have worked as a security guard at the same location.
A third man has been identified only as Stalles. The name of the fourth man had not been confirmed at the time of the report.
Police said the operation in the Retirement community followed intelligence gathered as part of investigations into recent violent incidents in the area. Those incidents include the killing of a man at the Retirement dump on Friday, June 5.
According to the police account, the violence is connected to a continuing dispute involving people active in the scrap metal trade at the dump.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has opened an inquiry into the fatal shooting. Security forces have since maintained a heavy presence in the community.
