Vehicle Hits Fuel Pump and Ignites Blaze at Texaco Station on Constant Spring Road
Flames erupted at a Texaco service station along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew on Tuesday afternoon after a motor vehicle collided with a fuel pump.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone was injured in the incident, including the female motorist involved.
Early reports place the crash at shortly before 4:00 p.m. The vehicle had only moments earlier driven onto the forecourt from Mannings Hill Road when it suddenly picked up speed and struck one of the dispensers. The impact set off a fire on the premises.
Station employees and security personnel rushed to the scene with fire extinguishers and managed to bring the blaze under control before emergency units reached the location.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade and the police later attended. Firefighters carried out safety checks while investigators began looking into the circumstances that led to the collision.
