Rescue teams free father and teen from Venezuela rubble after twin quakes

1 min read

A father and his teenage son were freed from collapsed structures in Caraballeda, Venezuela, on Sunday, close to four days after twin earthquakes tore through the country, AFP reporters observed in the devastated coastal community.

Teams from the United States and France lowered the pair on stretchers from a towering pile of wreckage. Both looked worn out and deeply shaken.

Workers removed the teenager first. Dust clung to him, his right knee bore blood, and bandages wrapped his right hand.

The father came next, also dust-covered, with little more than a single cloth across his body. A medical device remained fixed to him.
