Desperation is mounting nationwide as families search for loved ones and communities confront widespread destruction. The twin tremors have placed enormous strain on rescue and recovery work, with the human cost continuing to climb.

La Guaira, among the states hit hardest, has seen residents take a leading role in the search for survivors. People on the ground are using shovels, heavy equipment, and at times their bare hands to clear rubble and reach anyone trapped beneath collapsed structures.

Alongside the rescue push, public frustration is rising. Many Venezuelans accuse the central government of an inadequate response to the disaster, saying hard-hit areas have been left to manage much of the crisis on their own.

With the death count climbing and tens of thousands still unaccounted for, survivors and rescuers are pressing for stronger official support as the search continues.
