Vibrant Energy has begun work on its first service station in Montego Bay, St. James, as part of a major investment push in Jamaica's energy sector through a partnership with FESCO.

The project, which officials said broke ground recently, is being positioned as more than a fuel retail outlet. Stephen Gooden, director of Vibrant Energy, said the development is expected to support jobs during both the building phase and regular operations.

"We are proud that this investment will create employment during construction and operations, and we actually estimate that once we're up and running, we'll be employing over 100 people collectively and while generating economic activity for local businesses and provide a modern facility that serves residents and visitors alike," Gooden said.

The Montego Bay location is the first step in Vibrant Energy's plan to establish between eight and 12 service stations across Jamaica. The company said the western city was selected for the initial site because of its strong economic activity, including growth tied to tourism, entrepreneurship and commercial expansion.

FESCO said the partnership includes a focus on using local suppliers and service providers where possible, while supporting economic growth in the surrounding community. The company also said Vibrant Energy's experience fits with its own goal of delivering modern solutions for customers.

Vibrant Energy has also disclosed that two more sites are being planned for Kingston and St. Andrew. Officials said those developments, together with the Montego Bay project, are expected to represent close to $4 billion in investment as the company works toward a national service station network.

The partners said the wider aim is to help build a more modern and efficient energy future for Jamaica.
